Show Choir Auditions
Auditions are held every spring for the following school year. New and returning members will need to audition for a spot in next year's ensemble. Members are selected for their vocal ability/potential, dance ability/potential, poise, citizenship, and attitude. Show choir captains and section leaders will be appointed from these auditions.

What if I can’t make it to the audition day?
Talk with Mr. Dove and we can find an alternative time to hear you sing and see you dance!
What is the show choir schedule like?
The SO seasons typically last from August through February with some breaks in December and occasional performances/festivals in the spring. After our summer dance camp, we have two-hour rehearsals once a week [Tuesdays 3:30-5:30p] and weekly sectional rehearsals [Wednesday 3:30-4p] A more detailed schedule will be posted soon at music.benjaminlogan.org.
Can I be in athletics or band and still be in the show choir?
Absolutely. We think it is important for students to be able to participate in as many activities as they desire, as long as they can maintain their academic grades, perform at an acceptable standard in each activity, and communicate effectively with their coaches/directors. We will do our best to share time with other practices and/or rehearsals.
Do I have to attend all rehearsals or can I miss some?
We will try to be flexible and accommodate for other practices, school activities, family schedules, and conflicts outside of school. However, students should make every effort to prioritize the rehearsals and be present at all rehearsals if possible.
How much does it cost?
There are not any fees to be in SO but there are some costs involved. Singers/Dancers are expected to purchase their performance attire items. Every effort will be made to give you advanced notice so that you have time to plan for these expenses. Some items you will find and purchase on your own while others you will be asked to pay the boosters and your item will be ordered for you. Overall, the goal is to be as economical as possible while still maintaining a standard of performance excellence. A breakdown of costs will be provided with the performance attire items. If at any time assistance is needed with costs, please reach out to the director or booster officer. Costs typically range from $50-$150 depending on what items you need to purchase.
How will I know if I made it into the group?
A list will be posted at music.benjaminlogan.org and outside the choir room door in early May. The music website will be one of the places to stay up-to-date on info, rehearsals, etc.

FILL OUT an audition form [Click the link below]
PREPARE the required vocal selection [music and recordings are provided below]
PREPARE the required dance choreography [video is provided below] Please learn this prior to the audition!
ATTEND a 5-minute vocal audition and group dance audition [If you are not currently in choir, Mr. Dove will schedule an audition time with you]

You will need to learn your vocal part to the CHORUS ONLY of "Caught In The Storm".
